Jewellery in the garden: a pool made of Silberquarzit
This private pool project in Germany makes it clear: the different shades of Silberquarzit create a beautiful play of colours in the water. Its mica layers also give it a special lustre when dry. Gardeners and landscapers have the opportunity to create a harmonious, natural atmosphere throughout the garden with the globally popular South Tyrolean natural stone.
Advantages of Silberquarzit as a natural stone in the garden and pool
Stains, moss or bacteria are completely alien to Silberquarzit. Next to diamonds, it is the hardest natural stone. Liquids roll off it. Its high density prevents the colonisation of germs, bacteria, fungi and mosses. Walking barefoot over wet tiles is a particularly safe and pleasant experience with silver quartzite. Both the rough-split surface and the diamond-cut surface achieve class C slip resistance.
Another advantage: to prevent algae growth, the phosphate content in the pond must be as low as possible. In contrast to other natural materials, Silberquarzit has a phosphorus content of less than 6 MG P/kg. This property is confirmed by the Austrian standard L 1128, making the natural stone particularly suitable for pond construction and for use in near-natural swimming facilities. The pH value of the water is also not affected by silver quartzite in any way.
This robust natural stone is also easy to care for: Silberquarzit is resistant to acids and alkalis. This means that the slabs can be cleaned and disinfected with all cleaning agents, even aggressive ones (except hydrofluoric acid and aqua regia) - if necessary, even with very hard brushes on single disc machines. It is also resistant to water vapour and brine water and is even frost-proof on cool nights in winter.
A treasure from nature
Silberquarzit, which is quarried by Grünig Natursteine in its own quarry in Pfitschertal in South Tyrol, is available in various formats: as block steps, tread slabs, floor slabs, boulders, gravel, pool cover slabs, wall cladding or wall stone - rough-split or diamond-cut and in the colours white, grey, beige or anthracite.
